This is one of the best movies ever made on World War -2; and captures the allied angle to its bloody best. Set at the time
during the D-Day invasion of Normandy in World War II, this movie captures the brutal realities of war in a near flawless depiction which also won it 4 Oscars including the best director’s award for Steven
Spielberg. The movie opens with an half an hour sequence; presenting a first hand feel of the violence, and ghastly visuals, depicting the sheer brutality and force of the gadgets of war; and what chaos and destruction they incur on the soft human flesh. The director has left nothing to imagination; as hands and feet go flying off the bodies of soldiers marching ahead; while their brethren all dazed and numbed keep toiling ahead un-looking at the barrage of venom that Germans entrenched in their bunkers shower at them through their beastly MG-42s.
If you guys remember
Schindler's List, then you would definitely remember Spielberg, but what brilliance he has shown in Saving Pvt. Ryan can only be seen to be believed. I myself have seen many war movies before, but never in my life had I been hit by the profundity of the evils of war, which this film so masterly does.
If any of you guys have missed this movie; I would suggest that you go get the DVD of Saving Pvt. Ryan, and watch it right now. It is one film that you just can’t miss.
