A Knight's Tale

Movie Summary by: Madeline841

A Knight's Tale is a delightful movie inspired by the works of Geoffrey Chaucer. The action takes place
in the Middle Ages, but it is brought to the modern day by different means, such as witty dialogue, ballroom dances turned almost disco and humorous scenes, with a soundtrack featuring songs written by rock gods: We Will Rock You (Queen) and Golden Years (David Bowie). Although the film doesn't have a certain depth to it, it's not a thought-provoking masterpiece, yet it is a highly enjoyable flick with a ravishing Shannyn Sossamon as Lady Jocelyn and a charming Heath Ledger as the squire turned knight. Geoffrey Chaucer himself, always in trouble, is played by Paul Bettany and Laura Fraser is a tomboy blacksmith who befriends Sir William. Heath Ledger left us with another great role, beautifully played and suitable for him, at least at that point in his career. The costumes, the choreography of the dances and the epic battles/training sessions, the setting, everything adds to this feel-good movie that perfectly combines a love story with pure comedic genius.
