Lolita , the movie based on Vladimir Nabokov’s novel, is a movie depicting the confessions of a widower – Humbert, played
by Jeremy Irons, which puts his madness behind a fascade of love. Young Lolita , played by Dominique Swan(aged 15 during filming), is
separated from her
mother eternally when Humbert weds her mother ,Haze, with intentions of making moves on young Lo. When Haze gets aware of his intentions, she meets with an accident as she goes on a frivolous drive to warn Lolita(at a camp) about her step father. Taking advantage of the situation, Humbert keeps Lolita with himself and Lo grows up learning that she can make money by sleeping with her father. This continues till the day she absconds from her father, and the movie takes a turn-the audience get to know about the true feelings Humbert has towards Lo.
Her life becomes worse from bad and Lolita ends up pregnant and penniless at the age of 17, when she asks Humbert for money. Humbert after giving her the money goes on a wild spree in search of the nemisis who separated him from Lo and hunts him down. Its worthwhile to note that Humbert’s love for Lolita does not fade in spite of her beauty withering away.
The movie is based on a tragic story,depicts feelings really well and turns the pedophile into a hero. It can be watched by a scenty person who loves sober shades of movies or just to see the heart warming acting of the beautiful Lolita.
