Little
Manhattan is an endearing, affectionately humorous and even lyrical depiction of the dawning of adolescence amid the
privileged. It takes only moments for the audience to fall for Gabe’s(Josh Hutchinson) charms in the avalanche of his first love.
Gabe whose parents are on the verge of a divorce takes up a Karate course petrified by some of his classmates bullying him. Things take a turn when he realizes something that he never felt before. Yes of course, it was
Rosemary who had been his classmate right from kindergarten, but all of a sudden his heart was thumping faster when he saw her at the Karate. He remembers the time when he as a toddler puked when touched by “a girl”, and this is his first person narration of how he is smitten by Rosemary’s charms and mental maturity.
Little
Manhattan has undoubtedly exposed Hutchison’s great expression and flair for acting. So don’t miss this cute description of his infatuation –what he calls his “love story”.
