What a girl wants starring Amanda Baynes,as
Daphne, revolves around the life of a happy go lucky girl who wants to have what
every girl wants. She comes out of her fairy tale fantasy life when she
learns that her father has been separated from her seventeen years ago as her mother,Libby, could not fit into his aristocratic family of nobles. Her father, Henry Dashwood, now a high profile politician, accepts his
daughter and Daphne finds it hard to learn the etiquette of a baroness. Things are made tougher by her father’s fiancée and her daughter – each time she tries to learn something new, they discourage her and she ends up making a fool of herself.
In the ongoing process of self improvement Daphne learns that she is losing herself and is not becoming what she really wanted to be. Things lead to a predictable ending; the viewers get bored by the happily ever after ending of the movie. However, Amanda is cute and the film is made watch worthy with all those adorable incidents. Better than her Sydney White (Snow White) story, Amanda always gets roles on the same lines. Watch it if you’re a diehard fan of Amanda else save your time for something else.
