Dr.
Strangelove is an absolutely hilarious movie. It makes fun of the nuclear arms race and the panic over the cold war.
In the movie, General Jack Ripper goes insane and orders his entire bomb wing to attack their targets inside Russia. The planes were already in the area. Why? They were holding a special operation. Names in the movie are very funny, and the name of the mission does not disappoint. They were there as part of Operation Dropkick. Lionel Mandrake, a British officer under Ripper's command as part of the Officer Exchange Program, attempts to recall the wing, and hilarity ensues. Mandrake is played by
Peter Sellers, who plays two other roles in the movie as well. When combined with the zany antics of General Buck Turgidson, Russian Premier Alexi Kissoff, and of course Dr.
Strangelove, a truly wonderful and funny movie is created. The Russian Ambassador comes to the War Room to help try and avert the crisis. When he gets in a tussle with Turgidson, the President informs them: "You can't fight in here! This is the War Room!" Then they realize that if the bombs are dropped, it will set off a doomsday device that will kill them all. At the last moment, they figure out the recall code and are able to transmit it. But one plane had a broken radio and didn't receive the message. So one plane continues on to its target... An excellent movie!
