Watching
G.I. Joe, I couldn't help feeling a combination of embarassment, humour and nostalgia.
One of the recurring
thoughts in my head was, how could I have enjoyed much less love this cartoon as a child. The dialogues and the storylines were so corny that it was hard not to wonder at how I could have found this show 1 of my favourites at one time. And yet I couldn't help but laugh as well, especially when Serpentor the leader of the Cobra organisation yells Cobra-lalalalalalala .... If that was supposed to be a rousing cheer, no wonder Cobra continually loses against G.I. Joe.
Still, there is still a charm to listening to the familiar theme song, or
watching a show where the bad and good guys are so clearly defined. The monsters are always the bad guys and the good guys are always the heroes. And the heroes always win.
Your guess is as good as mine why if Cobra are such bumbling idiots, these
real American heroes need to combat them again and again.
