The Day After Tomorrow

Movie Summary by: bookfan5555

The Day After Tomorrow was a 2004 film about what could happen if global warming is not stopped. This movie starred
Dennis Quaid as a scientist who studies the Earth and history. He is made aware about certain events that are happening around the globe and tries to get the government to understand what is happening. He is also made aware of the plight with his son, Sam, who is stuck in New York City, with a major storm on the way. He makes the decision to make the trek through very cold weather and very bad conditions in order to find and save his son. We are shown New York City being inundated with floods and later being frozen over. The one scene that got to me was when I saw Lady Liberty almost totally covered in snow. At least she was not destroyed like she was in the movie, Independence Day. The most chilling scene is when Dennis Quaid is traisping along and all the sudden the snow stops and clears. He looks up and sees the storm approaching. He quickly dumps his friend down a shaft at some restaurant, throws his gear down, and then he himself throws himself down the shaft. Then he quickly makes use of the burners to make sure that they do not freeze when the storm picks up speed again.
This film was a chilling example of what could happen in the distant future. Of course, it is not possible for it to be as fast and bad as this movie showed us. It might not happen in our lifetime, but it will happen gradually. I enjoyed this film, because I am a science fiction fan and I also like to watch disaster movies. It was an incredible movie with some amazing special effects. I will always remember the scene where they are walking across the snow, in what was the Atlantic Ocean and they walk by a half buried ship and Lady Liberty, as they are heading to New York City.
