Gabrielle Union continues to tear up the screen in
Deliver Us From Eva, a mildly funny and entertaining film that
runs just fine until the last 20 minutes.
Union stars as Eva, an intelligent, conceited and downright bitchy woman who tends to interfere with her sisters'' lives. The sisters don''t mind, or even notice, but their three husbands/boyfriends do, and so they hire Ray (LL Cool J), a hardcore player, to seduce Eva and get them off of their backs. Of course, their plan goes awry when Ray and Eva hit it off.
Deliver Us From Eva is a moderately smart yet simple romantic comedy that in some respects does not stray too much from the normal formula but at the same time doesn''t look like every other romantic comedy that has ever hit the big screen. There are some laugh-out-loud parts as well as some cute romantic scenes, a good combination for a guy looking for a good date movie. The film has a lot of guy and girl bashing, from the respective sides, so it should be entertaining to both sexes.
