Bedazzled

Movie Review by: FilmJabber

Original Author: Harold Ramis
Brendan Fraser, the loveable guy from such films as George of the Jungle and The Mummy, and Elizabeth Hurley,
the luscious woman from Austin Powers, team up to bring Bedazzled to the big screen. The movie wants to burn up the screen but instead just manages to microwave it.

It is not that Bedazzled isn''t funny - it is - it just isn''t funny enough. Where there are laughs there are stretches of quasi-funny material, and some of the best parts are shown in the previews. Luckily, there are enough surprises that are not shown in the previews to keep the movie going, but it never picks up steam the way it should.

I laughed quite a bit and I admit I was entertained throughout the film, but I wasn''t laughing nearly as much as I expected to, as much as I should have. Let''s take the Colombian drug lord segment, which everyone knows about. The part where he first realizes he can speak Spanish is hilarious, but it has already been shown in the previews. The rest of the scenario is funny, but only because Fraser is a drug lord. The movie relies too much on situational comedy than actual jokes, and that''s where the movie lags.
