When a movie is named after a Britney Spears song, you have to be worried. I have to admit the song is sort of catchy, but
if a movie is based around a song, you have to wonder what exactly it is offering.
Drive Me Crazy is a big misnomer, but it does have some redeeming qualities. All in all, it is a very enjoyable film - if you don''t mind more of the same.
Nicole (Melissa Joan Hart) is a popular girl in school who, after her dream guy asks a different girl to the big dance, decides to go as friends with her next door neighbor/outcast Chase (Adrian Grenier). As they continue to do things together they continue to like each other more and more. Sound familiar? Yes, it sounds very familiar. It even sounds like another 1999 teeny bopper movie, She''s All That (although slightly different).
Still, it does have some features that set it apart. The one thing I really liked is that the conversion (where Chase is turned from an outcast into a preppie) is a little more believable, since his whole appearance isn''t changed. He gets some new clothes and combs his hair a little bit and that''s about it.
