1964 which she refers to the Dark Ages when she was 13 years old where a girl could only aspire to being a Nun, A Teacher or a Nurse and the whole notion of becoming
a Doctor or Head of Business, or a Lawyer was totally unheard of!
The Nun she focuses on in her film .. DOUBT ... is Sister Aloysius and themes explored in this ITN blog are the Habit which Nuns wore in the 1960s and the whole person was covered in cloth i.e. the habit and the only visible flesh was the face and hands! Also the role of women ... in that period!
I suppose its amusing to refer to the 1960s as the Dark Ages but I prefer to see it as a start in the right direction for women in society ... I know I was a Banker and that was totally unheard of I guess, to stick at it rather than swoon over the first man who held your hand .. I want to hold you hand ... mixed emotions . nice work .
