San Francisco Film Festival is awarding a Film Award in April 2009 to
legendary filmmaker .. Francis Ford Coppola . he is
legendary and so are his best selling films such as The
GodFather.
Francis Fod Coppola has been in the film business for quite a time and in fact when I lived in
California, Cupertino ... was the first occasion I came upon the work of Francis Ford Coppola .. i.e. his
legendary status at that point in time was beginning .. in 1974. In fact it was a way of entertaining the under 5s .. my children were having a nap out of the hot California sun ... I would watch the marathon run of the Godfather Film on American television. It was an extraordinary film about the Italian Mafia even in those days but Godfather II and Godfather III were yet to come.
Godfather III I saw in Ireland amidst the bombs and bullets in the 1990s ... an extraordinary mix of emotions and film themes .. and Godfather II in the 2000's as I bought the Godfather Trilogy on DVD!
In fact I taught Italian Students at Surrey University near London and this film was a major theme for our theatre work .. nice work!
