At First Sight

Movie Review by: FilmJabber

Original Author: Irwin Winkler
Mira Sorvino and Val Kilmer are a match made in Heaven in At First Sight, a true story with, I''m sure, added romance.
Kilmer plays Virgil, a blind man, who, after meeting and falling in love with Amy, is given a chance to see for the first time in his life. Of course, when he does get his sight back he finds that he "chose wisely" and picked Mina Sorvino as his lucky bedmate.

At First Sight is a good woman''s movie because it has lots of light-hearted romance and also has a lot of sad segments. The best part of the movie is the first half hour or so, when the two stars have just met and Kilmer is still blind. It''s at this point that the movie really shines, since their relationship is about as sweet as it gets. Kilmer and Sorvino are always nice to each other and have a warm and funny friendship. But, once Kilmer goes through the operation, things change, as the couple strikes the common complications that any romance works around - the only difference is that the director tries to hide this fact with Kilmer trying to cope with his newfound sense.

But honestly, this movie is not bad at all. While it is a little long, At First Sight has a lot of enjoyable moments and Kilmer and Sorvino really work together. The acting is good and Nathan Lane is a great addition.
