Last Friday I watched Kaminey, and since then I have a 'feaking' disorder. This disorder, called the 'F' virus has caught
on faster that the swine flu.Everybody seems to be having a problem with 'f' and suddenly stammering has become a fashion. Bollywood has indeed glorified speech disorders earlier too and Kaminey has just taken it a step ahead.
Vishal Bharadwaj has made a genius piece of art after Omkara. Anyways, this was just as expected.
The music is soothing and meaningful. the popular track 'Dhan te tan' is classily shot in a smoky pub. None of the songs seem to be'fitted' into the situation forcibly, it just seems to be righly placed.
Shahid Kapur has done a brilliant job as the 'chalu' Charlie and the 'cute' Guddu. Ms. Piggy Chops has been great too. I especially liked the scene where she gets just barges into a toilet in the boys hostel. She is so natural. Must say she has improved a lot over the years. Somehow, I missed Shahid Kapur's dance, considering the fact that he is an amazing dancer, second only to Hrithik Roshan. Bharadwaj should have capitalized his dancing skills, its a treat to the eyes to see the young Khan dance.
Another thing I found missing was subtitles in sections where Bengali and Marathi are spoken. Well, some audiences may not understand a word of it and may find that little weird. My American friend called it a multilingual movie!!! The climax could have been a wee bit better. The climax scene seems a bit over the top, but Charlie with his 'fweet' twang manages the situation too well for anybody to notice the flaws.
Overall Kamniney was a refreshing change and a truly Janmastami bonanza from Bharadwaj. Its release at a truly apt time has added well. I wish the cast and crew of Kaminey all the best and hope it rocks thr box office. I would be surprised if it did'nt.
