Fox Animation Studios debuted with Titan AE, a mix of traditional artistry and computer graphics, and failed miserably. The
movie failed to hit it right with audiences, and I can only wonder why (note sarcasm). The movie is a cartoon, which immediately is supposed to appeal to the younger audience, but its content and storyline are that of a PG-13 sci-fi action film.
Matt Damon, Drew Barrymore, Bill Pullman, Janeane Garofalo, and Nathan Lane provide the voices for the characters, and really, they don''t do much for the movie. The reason I say this is not because of their "acting skills," but primarily because the script is so basic that at times it is hard to take the movie really seriously.
The biggest problems I had with the film were a few small reality flaws that could have easily been covered up if done right. In one scene two of the main characters hold their breath as they move from their damaged cockpit to another ship. As soon as their skin touched the vacuum of space, they would die. Sure, this is a minor thing, but it is a noticeable one.
