Oppoents of Immigration Legislation Stage A Demonstration To make their sentiments known to Georgia
Senator Saxby Chambliss- the Immigration Bill foes demonstrated outside his Metropolitan Atlanta Office. Extracted from an article written by Brian Feagans of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution- who noted that D. A . King, an opponent of the Immigration Reform- said that the demonstrators desired to persuade Republican Georgia Senators Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isakson to help pass a strong Immigration Law. At this time the
legislation remains cruising through congress. Although it received bi-partisan support- its suffers from intense criticism from both the left and the right. Opponents on the right contend that the bill is ``to soft on border security and the estimated 12 million illegal
immigrants in the country. `` Immigrant advocates say it would break up immigrant families and give illegal immigrants incentive to remain in the shasows.`` Following their protest- the demonstrators presented a petition to the office of Senator Chambliss. Senator Chambliss` office issued a press release that said he and fellow Georgia Republican Senator Johhnny Isakson will work to protect the border first, find a new route to citizenship and to stop illegal immigration.
