Pakistan still did not ask for forgiveness from Bangladesh. 1971, the year of liberation
war of Bangladesh. It was a war between Bangladesh and Pakistan, and this continued for nine months. Pakistanis
wanted to take over this
country and name it as East Pakistan. They wanted to stop the
people of this country from speaking Bengal and make them speak in Urdu language. But the people of Bangladesh protested against this type of orders as they loved their country and their language so much. They were ready to sacrifice their lives for their country if necessary. Then came the dark night of 25th March. Pakistani
armies attacked on the people of Bangladesh, they started their first attack from Dhaka (the capital). Then it spread through out the whole country and continued for nine months.
Pakistani armies did a
lot of torture on Bangladeshis and gradually killed up to 30 million people. People could not stand this type of loss thus they started a war with them. At that time there were no real armies of Bangladesh so that normal people started to get trained and fight against their enemies. It was a very tough work for them because the Pakistanis had a lot of weapons and preparations. But the trained fighters of Bangladesh were not that powerful thus they had to do a lot of hard work for winning this war and liberate the country. The fighters of Bangladesh used to hide from the Pakistanis and do guerillas attack on them. They had a lot of problems with food and with weapons as these were limited for them. They used to take shelter in the small forests and in other secret areas. If they were hungry and did not have any food then they took the help of other Bangladeshi people who gave them shelter and food. Although the Bangladeshi fighters were weak their confidence was strong. This strong confidence happened to bring them victory.
Everyone was scared of the Pakistanis because they used to shoot any Bangladeshis they found on sight. It was a horrible nightmare for the people. The government employees were safe from this but they had to carry a card for their identity. These sort of incidents happened everyday and continued for a whole nine months.
This is year 2008. 37 years have past that the liberation war had ended. East Pakistan is now called Bangladesh. It is now a liberated country for the people living in here. The Pakistani armies had surrendered to Bangladesh and left this country. Before they left they killed many of the people in here which included many of the masterminds of Bangladesh. They took many of the national treasures and never gave them back. These all happened 37 years before, but still now the Pakistani armies did not ask for forgiveness from Bangladesh. President of Pakistan, Parvez Musharraf wanted to bring alliance with Bangladesh. He wanted to bring peace between these two countries, but he did forget the main thing. He forgot to ask for forgiveness. Does it mean that the sacrifice of those 30 million people were for nothing. We would just forget that deadly war considering it as a nightmare?
