I am writing about the leading Bengali
newspaper of Bangladesh.Its called the Daily Prothom Alo.Prothom means first
and Alo means light.So Prothom Alo stands for the First Light of the day.This
newspaper has started its journey from 1999 and is still continuing on successfully.
The newspaper is popular for its diverse news presentation and maintaining neutrality in giving news to its readers.It also brings out special supplements and magazines each day as bonuses.The print quality of Prothom Alo is the best among all Bangla newspapers in Bangladesh.Its price is also reasonable.It is the most read and the most published newspaper in the country.
Besides presenting news,Prothom Alo also performs some social duties.It has an Acid Survivors Fund which helps in getting acid burnt women proper treatment.It has runs a social awareness program against drugs.It also has a flood relief fund which helps flood affected people in Bangladesh every year.It also has a readers forum all over Bangladesh which arranges seminars,discussions and various
cultural programs.Each year Prothom Alo gives away awards to the best cultural personalities and celebrities of Bangladesh to inspire better media productions.
Prothom Alo also runs a separate Bangla blog service online which has now become the 2nd largest Bangla blogging community.It also manages a job website which gives latest Bangladeshi jobs updates to its users.Prothom Alo has close links with Channel I,the first digital satellite channel of Bangladesh and the Daily Star,the largest English newspaper of Bangladesh.
