In this Tuesday’s evening the TAM’s JJ 3054
Flight, with 176
people, skipped the Congonhas Airport’s runway during the landing. The
airplane, an Airbus, leaved Porto Alegre with the destiny of São Paulo. After the skip the airplane hit a
shed of the same company in the other side of the Washington Luíz Avenue. The first six people aided were alive, three of them seriously wounded. These six people weren’t in the airplane. Tens of fireman’s cars went to the local to extinguish the fire and try to save possible survivors in the shed. The chaotic situation forced Infraero to cancel the entire take offs and landings in the airport. The Washington Luíz Avenue was interdicted too. The employee Levi Lourenço heard the noise of the airplane falling, but as he didn’t saw the accident realize that was another turbine test. According to Levi, the airplane didn’t make the skip and went through the Washington Luíz Avenue, hitting the TAM’s shed. The company sent a note to the victim’s
families:
“TAM informs that the JJ 3054 Flight took off of Porto Alegre with 170 people, including passengers and flight attendants, besides six components of the technical crew (commanders). During the confirmation of the names, the families will be notified before any
information becomes
public, accordingly the legislation in vigor. We remember that TAM has already activate the assistance to victims and families program and make public the number 0800 117900 used to give assistance to families and to the crew members of this flight. TAM made public all the information until now. Any other relevant information will be communicated immediately by TAM.”
After that note the President Luíz Inácio Lula da Silva establish an emergency reunion with the ministers Dilma Rousseff, Walfrido dos Mares Guia, Franklin Martins and Waldir Pires.
