THE BAKASSI PENISULAR MASSACCRE.
Bakassi
is a region situated at the border between Cameroon and Nigeria,for several years now the two countries have been fighting over this terrain which is very rich in petrol for their various economic benefits.several years have passed and promising old and young cameroonians and nigerians have perished at this site due to conflict,for both countries maintained a standing army ready to attack the other at any given time of the day,week, month or year.As peaceful as the cameroon government may be the,she decided to hand the matter over to the U.N.O,and after months of cross examinations,close analyses and also very contradicting arguments the U.N team incharge encountered during the peace process it was however declared that the bakassi is a part and parcel of the cameroon nation.although the nigerian government did not find the UN''s declareation convincing,she withdrew her troops from the area, as the UN had orderd,but she did it reluctantly.
The treaty brought up by the UN which handed the bakassi penisular to cameroon was known as the GREEN TREE ACCORD drawn up on the 12/03/2006,prior to this agreement in the presence of the two head of states president PAUL BIYA,of Cameroon and president OLUSAGUN OBASANJO of Nigeria,peace and stabilty has reinged between the two parties for the past one year eight months,but what happened on the 12/11/2007 at about 2.00pm when the cameroon army there on gaurd were swept off their feet by armed gun men,who made their way over in 7 boats and stormed the cameroon barracks and with the whole time in the world they patiently filled the breathing bodies of 21 soldiers to bullet filled corpses,the gun men made sure that each cameroonian soldeir killed had atleast a bullet in the head,and also they injured another ten cameroonian soldiers who were only brought back home at douala,the ecenomic capital,the soldiers were rushed to the douala military hospital where they battled between life and death.The cameroon government could not understand why the nigerian soldiers should make such an attack after it had been made clear world wide by the UN that the bakassi penisular is a part of the cameroon nation.
The Nigerians, denies that they have no hand concerning the death of the 21 soldiers at the bakassi barrcks,instead they pointed their fingers at the NIGER DELTA REBELS,a very dangerous and armed group of young nigerians fighting against their own government,they are specialised in kidnapping,connecting thier own pipes in which they use in stealing petrol from the main pipes of the nigerian government then take them to the high sea,sell them and then buy guns,they also have charms tied around their necks,legs,heads,and waist acting as bullet proofs,yes some of these charms do exist in africa, so do not be surprised. Nigerian government claimd that the rebels are responsible for the massaccre because they are in need of guns or amunitions to fight against them.
It''s however true that amunitions at the barracks were no where to be found,but the rebels too on the other hand denied the allegation saying that they have nothing to do with the massaccre, for they are fighting only against one enemy,and that''s their government,so if the amunitions at the cameroon barracks, where the killing took place are missing, then the nigerian government is keeping them,thus it''s nothing but a strategy put in place by the nigerian government to deceive the Cameroon government and the entire world and to prove their innocence about something they are responsible for,this has made the matly confusing because the cameroon government and the world in general are left with these questions unanswered.
1.Did the cameroon soldeirs fight amongst themselves?.
2.who massaccred the soldiers?.
3.Did they die mysteriously?.
