Today' s China, facing the typical questions imposed by the quality of growth, is considering the enhancement of new policies
oriented towards
preservation, energy-saving, and sustainable criteria. Planning and design approaches promoting the protection and the safeguard of natural and man-made resources cannot but imply rehabilitation, renewal, and reuse programs of the built environment.
In this respect, an ideal partner for cooperation and exchange is represented by a country like Italy, and the Tuscan Region, in particular, because of the world renowned achievements in the field of preservation and development of its environmental and cultural heritage resources.
This event, organized by Florence University and Tongji University, is meant to perform a high-level scientific and cultural meeting on the Tuscan practice and management traditions in the field of protection and economic valorisation of cultural heritage, consisting of an exhibition and a
conference venue.
The exhibition (18-24.09) will present over 30 projects by thematic sections (Institutional policies; Project financing and process management; Know-how and technology)，representing both public and private roles in the field of cultural heritage preservation and renewal programs, and the reality of the Tuscan building entrepreneurship.
The conference (18-19.09) on: Adaptive Reuse in Architecture and Sustainable Urban Development will have 3 plenary sessions and a Sino-Italian experts round-table session.
The Scientific Committee of the event is chaired by professor Romano Del Nord and professor Zheng Shiling. Scientific Coordinators are professor Corrado Latina and professor Yongjie Sha.
The event will be hosted at Shanghai Urban Planning Centre lobby floor, in the very central Peoples' Square.
