A quick trip into town and the discovery that a friend of a friend has gone to Turkey on a 4 week vacation reminded me that
I was on a four day vacation last year around this time and had a most enjoyable time in Istanbul
Turkey. We must get together on that ... so I have and together with the
Turkish Digest on Turkey's application to join the E.U. in spite of the opposition of Member Countries in the EU who are: France, Germany, Greece, Cyprus.
However, all is not lost according to the Taiwan News as a Peace Laureate has taken up the case of Turkish entry into the E.U. and Marti Ahtisaan accused the EU of stalling on the negotiations of Turkey's entry into the E.U. - Europe loses its credibility if we dont let this process go unhindered. Apparently the Politicians in Turkey have been snubbed ... so the steps are taken to direct the energy towards a positive goal in this situation. However, the case of Cyprus and Turkey still remains unsolved ... I guess thats another episode in the history of Turkey and the traditions of the E.U. Thanks Turkish Digest - hard news but the reasons are that the Continent of Europe is already overflowing with Muslim entrants into its borders are are still coping with all of it! We shall work it out peaceful solutions prove long lasting in the end!
