Sex on the High Seas STRANGER things happen at sea, they say. But do they come any stranger than women eating whipped cream
off pieces of fruit held to the front of men? And the men returning the compliment? According to the organisers of Fantasy Boat Party, in Ayia Napa, Cyprus, that's as strange as it gets. But according to an eye-witness on board the boat, it gets a whole lot weirder. He said the party games are just the appetiser for sexual shenanigans that follow. Police said they had in their possession photographs that left little room for doubt that participants were not having only good clean fun. Nude holidaymakers aged 18 to 30 - mainly British but some Scandinavian - were pictured indulging in lurid acts, according to one senior police officer. Cyprus's assistant police chief Sotiris Charalambous, vowed to clamp down on the cruises which have outraged the island's orthodox Christian population. 'This is the sort of disgraceful behaviour that we will not tolerate,' he said. 'The behaviour of some of these people is simply obscene and has no place on this island.' Island deputy chief of police Sotiris Haralambous told The Mirror: 'These scenes are not just graphic, they go beyond every conceivable limit. We are talking... total debauchery.' The boat, the Ayia Napa Queen, takes parties of 250 tourists out to sea every night, into international waters where they are beyond the reach of the law. Organisers carry huge water pistols filled with a powerful tequila-based cocktail, which they squirt directly into party-goers' mouths. A tourist, who went on the boat, told the Cyprus Mail last week: 'People soon get really drunk, to the point where they will do just about anything. The games with whipped cream and fruit lead on to more initmate things. Images of naked revellers shown on Cypriot Mega TV shocked devout locals. Police also said drugs and 'bombes' - a lethal mix of cheap spirits and pure alcohol - may have been given to passengers oblivious to the organisers' motives. 'It appears there was widespread use of Ecstasy on board,' a police source told The Guardian. 'Bad alcohol - the bombes - was also served, which would have rendered people senseless. It would also explain why it took so long for the boat to be reported.' There were also allegations of women being forced to take part in the games. And yet, an anonymous worker from the Ayia Napa Queen denied it all. He told The Sun: 'We couldn't have orgies as we would be closed down. 'And besides, if we did, we would charge people 2,000 ($6,240) not the reasonable fee of 25.' The worker said he was on the cruise every night and he had yet to see any sexual or lurid acts taking place. He added that there were no other similar cruises from Ayia Napa, which has a reputation as Europe's wildest holiday spot for people in their 20s. Tickets for the nightly parties on board the Ayia Napa Queen are sold out every night and clubbers from the UK are booking flights to Cyprus just to try out the party, the worker said. Next year the fantasy boat party will be included in a tourist package, complete with flight and accommodation. Mr John Ioannou, the manager of the firm that hires out the boats, told The Sun: 'We cater for good, clean fun. There are no orgies or drugs.' Their website advertises: 'Cheeky chaps and naughty ladies volunteer from the crowd for some extra special fun (with bananas and melons provided).' There is a male stripper. Owner and captain Christos Kremastos, 51, his son Loucas, 29, and 48-year-old employee Yiannis Ioannou were arrested last week, moments before the boat sailed, and were charged with arranging indecent acts in public and operating night cruises without a licence. Police had known about the orgy ship for some time but believed they could not act because the lewd events took place in international waters. They swooped when they found that the cruises were being held within the islandtorial limit. Despite the arrests, ts to make its nightly voyages - filled with revellers.
