The Limousin is getting the wind in its sails. Experts have
identified good potential for air
power in the northerly parts
of the region, in particular the Creuse up near Boussac. It is estimated that 15% of the Limousin is more than suitable for this form of alternative energy. The project is still at the planning stage and will need millions of euros of investment in order to come to fruition. The two main areas
identified for wind
power stretch from Mézièrs-sur-Issoire, west of Bella, to Dun-le-Palestel in the Creuse.Various smaller wind pockets are located in Saint- Mathieu in the westerly Haute-Vienne and in the Parc de Peyrelevade on the Plâteau de Millevaches where, already, six wind turbines have been installed at a cost of €9 million.
