EMBARRASSING FORGETFULNESS
The refrigerator may be open and you may be standing in front of it not remembering why you opened it. The innumerable times you would have forgotten names, telephone numbers may have even started to give an inferiority complex
But there is no need for alarm because one simple reason for the forgetfulness could be lack of attention. For any information to be registered in the brain, it must be brought to the brain through the senses, the brain must store it and it should be able to reproduce information when you need it most. If you were preoccupied and did not pay attention at that time, the brain didn't store it and therefore cannot recollect it.
But there are times when one pays attention and even then forgets. This happens because of the cells in our brain gradually diminish in number and one's neural circuits have trouble holding on to memory.
Some researchers say, it is a consequence of ageing. Others say it is due to under-nourishment and build-up fo toxins in the body which produce free radicals. Free radicals are little monsters which damage cell tissue, and lead to forgetfulness.
It would be helpful if one knows the food which boosts memeory.
GREEN TEA
Green tea is unfermented tea and has been closely studied for its anti-oxidant properties. It is a potent sea venger of free radicals. Green tea helps reduce free radicals
BIOFLAVENOIDS AND CAROTENIODS
These are found in carrots, green leafy vegetables like spinach, tomatoes, oranges and sweet potatoes. Beta-carotene is a potent anti-oxidant.
Bioflavenoids are also powerful anti-oxidants and can be found in cabbage, broccoli, watermelon, bean sprouts, cauliflower and most yellow and orange coloured fruits and vegetables.
All these food are also rich in vitamin C which is very vital to brain function. Vitamin C is necessary for the manufacture of the neuro-transmitter acetylcholine, which helps boost memeory.
Caution
Doses fo vitamin C above 1,000 mg may acidify the urine and enhance formulation of kidney stones.
