english newspaper. It is also the 2nd most read english newspaper in India. 'The Hindu' is well known for the
high standards of its editorial opinions and columns.
'The Hindu' has a curious connection with people from the legal fraternity. It was started in 1878 to react to the appointment of T. Muthuswamy Aiar as judge of madras high court. Later, in 1905 a lawyer, S. Kastturirangan bought it.
