India urged Bangladesh to resolves all outstanding issues
India Northeastrn state of Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has urged a Bangladesh
delegation to resolve all outstanding issues related to the
trade and
commerce through
bilateral discussion for mutual interest of the two neighbouring countries.
The Bangladesh delegation led by Ilias Ahamed, additional secretary of Trade and Commerce arrived here to participate in the Indo-Bangla
Joint Working Group on Trade and Commerce. They called on the Chief Minister on Wednesday and discussed various issues related to the bilateral trade through the international border.
Informing about the
meeting between the Chief Minister and the Bangladesh delegation, Trade and Commerce Minister Tapan Chakraborty told reporters that the delegation has underlined the need of increasing the bilateral trade.
He said Chief Minister requested the Bangladesh delegation to allow Indian businessmen to use Ashuganj port in Bangladesh for mutual interest.
Both Chief Minister and members of the Bangladeshi delegation admitted that infrastructure development at the Land Customs Stations should be enhanced to tap the full potential of the bilateral trade. He added that the socio economic conditions along the international border will definitely improve if the trade possibility is tapped properly.
Chief Minister also requested the Bangladeshi delegation to implement all the decisions which are likely to be taken in the joint working group meeting at official level. Chief Secretary RK Mathur was also present in the meeting.
This is for the first time, Agartala has been chosen as venue for the 4th Indo-Bangla joint working group meeting on trade.
