The IIIT (International
Institute of Information Technology), which is based in Hyderabad is about to develop a
search engine, which can work on select Indian
languages. This new development would help the data searching and
retrieval of local languages, which are not being effectively done through the notable search engines like Yahoo and Google owing to some technical difficulties. This new search engine has been named as Web Khoj. The search engine currently supports five major Indian languages of Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Bengali. The scientists involved in the development are in the process of applying for a patent for this new and unique product. To help easier data retrieval the institute is working on technologies based on deep linguistic analysis rather than manual data indexing. According to industry observers, this new development would have a great
impact on accessing stock market information, which would have a great impact on life in general for the common investor.
