The
incidence of coronary artery disease
is rising in India and other developing countries. Moreover the disease is
attacking people at a younger age. This is primarily due to increased strees, which cause the realese of adrenaline.Constant realese of this hormone is harmful for the heart's blood vessels.Other factor like increased incidence of smoking, foor food habits, lack of exercise, high blood preasure and diabetes contribute to the deposition of fat, cholesterol and other blood products in the blood vessels of the heart .this is called atherosclerosis.
It reasult in the obtruction of blood flow to the heart resulting in cheast pain or angina.Angina may occur initally or exertion and is relieved by rest.As the obtruction increaser ,pain occur with even minimal exertion or even at rest .In some patients, the atheromatous plaque can rupture with thrombus formations. This results in total occlusion of the blood vessel and can lead to heart attack.
