The news

sentenced to death on November 5, 2006 together with the two of his co-defendants. He was convicted and sentenced for annihilating of 148
people of village Dujail, which is inhabited mostly by the people belonging to the Shia sect of Islam. The report makes it
clear that Mr. Hussein was defiant when the
verdict was read out and refused to stand up to face the verdict when he was ordered to do so by the presiding judge.In a separate report, it is mentioned that India reacted with caution but made it clear that it did not think that the verdict was the result of a ‘credible due process’ of law.Disturbances were reported in Iraq, particularly in Mr. Hussein’s home town, Tikrit.
