The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) today set-up a two member Ad-hoc
Committee to run the affairs of the Wrestling Federation
of India.
Lalit Bhanot has been named chairman and Baljeet Singh Sethi convener of the
committee which will look after WFI functioning till the
election process of the Federation is complete.
On May 31, a Delhi High Court order had directed the IOA to conduct the election to the Executive Council of WFI and for the posts of the President, Vice Presidents, Secretary General and Treasure. The IOA has accordingly appointed a three-member committee to conduct the election.
As per the Court directives, the entire process was to be completed within a period of three months from the date of issue of the order, but it could not be done as some units failed to provide the required details of voter lists for the election and the WFI did not provide the voter list of last election held on April 18, 2001, at Pune.
In a release, IOA president Suresh Kalmadi said that as the period laid down by the High Court has expired, the IOA hereby constitutes an Ad-hoc Committee to run the affairs of the WFI till election process is completed.
Lalit Bhanot is Joint Secretary and Baljeet Singh Sethi is Executive Council Member of the IOA.
