South Korean
cyclists continued to peddal their way to glory bagging two golds,one silver and a
bronze in the two events
decided on the third day of the 25th BSA Asian Cycling Championship being held at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) velodrome here today.
Hosts India, who have been without a medal so far in the competition, gave another poor performance today.
The gritty Koreans made a clean sweep of all the three medals in the 50 km junior women individual race. Son Hee Jung clinched the gold in a timing of one hour 39 minutes. Park Enu Mi claimed the silver and the bronze went to Ha Seon Ha.
In all, 18
cyclists took part in the event with 16 of them completing the race.The six Indians finished at the bottom with V Ishwarya managing to occupy the eight position.
In the gruelling 140 km individual road race for men, Jang Sunjae
picked up the gold with a timing of three hours 17 minutes. Hasanin Omar of Syria bagged the gold to give his country the first medal of the championship. Gruz Dev Dmitriy of Kazakhstan picked up the bronze.
A total of 65 cyclists participated in the event of which 52 completed the race. Harpreet Singh of India finished 17th while Zorawar Singh and R Kumar Jhakar finished 21st and 23rd respectively.
