HAILS INDIA’S MEDICAL INFRA STRUCTURE
The former
U S
President Bill Clinton had been to Panaji, the capital city of the State of Goa, India on February 18. The Clinton HIV/AIDS Foundation has its activities spread over fifty-one
countries. Cipla, the Indian Multi-national pharmaceutical giant has a pharmaceutical plant here and it is for striking a deal with the above company by the Foundation that Mr. Clinton visited the state. The deal envisages supply of second line of cheaper anti-retroviral medicines for treatment of HIVAIDS patients on behalf of the Clinton Foundation.
Mr. Clinton had all praise for the Indian medical fraternity and the networking of Doctors. He felt that in Indian society the medical profession has great respect and the physicians are available even in remote rural areas to take care of the patients. According to him in no other country including the U S doctors and nurses are available as in India. He hailed India for having proper medical infrastructure in place and remarked that there is shortage of medical and paramedical support in most of the other countries. And in some countries the diagnosis is non-existent and the people are unaware of their HIV affliction. The Clinton Foundation which is engaged in the most noble cause of fighting the most dreaded decease in 51 countries in thousands of locations is presently busy reaching the medicine and medical support to at least 1.25 million people world over.
The initiatives of the Foundation to reach support to the most downtrodden and poor HIV affected patients in all countries of the world are by far the most humanitarian act of the present century. And the fact that this has come from once most powerful man in the whole world, is proof that power is always associated with kindness and this inherent human nature will manifest itself at the most opportune moment. One is lead to hope and pray that the present most powerful Mr. President of the most powerful nation of the world will soon learn the lesson of this god worship from the former president sooner than latter. Once he realizes the magnitude of the sufferings of the poor third world he will also realize how insignificant it is to win the war against Iraqi or Iran compared to winning the war against poverty and decease the world over. The richest and the mighty nation in the world, the U S is also the most magnanimous society in the world. Any such initiative taken on an urgent basis with less than half the resources allocated for fighting these wars would enable the US to win over the hearts of the entire world in no time. This would then be he greatest victory of any nation in human history. This would indeed be the greatest worship of the god almighty who will shower all the richness and happiness to the entire citizens of a great nation the United State Of America. If each citizen of this great nation brinks himself to think that the immediate war should be fought against poverty, illness and ignorance of their brothers in the poor nations the world over the entire world will rally behind them in no time. And no doubt then President Mr. George Bush will follow the noble path shown by his predecessor Mr. Bill Clinton. Then and only then no lobbies will dare to stand on his way to the glory and fame in the real sense of the word. And for the people of this continent, all the peace of mind and happiness experienced through their regular visits to the religious places on so many Sundays will be realized in their own homes in that very moment and certainly with the power of thousand suns.
