Lows and Lows of ICC Cricket World Cup 2007
The title is the core of my views on the current ICC world cup in West Indies.
It started on the wrong foot from the word go.
Lets start with the opning ceremony which was not telecast live cos sony thought not many would stay awake to watch crickets premier events opening Ceremony as they did not think it was worht the TRP''s it would generate and so the ardent cricket loveing nation was devoid of watching it cos a few did not think it was worth it and it is a propehcy in India that a few takes decision which effects the masses in India and it starts from our political structure to basic amenities which most want so in other word the indian market works on a fancy of few hig powered high profile individuals.
Secondly
Pakistan lost its opening fixure to the west indies where in all kind of looked planned where in the impetus being given to west indies as the host and in other words marketing west indies to draw crowds into the stadium cos the home team was takeing on the Asian Giant and defeated them to generate intrest which was diminishing in the west indies.
Thirdly India''s loss to Bangladesh where the organisers were wrong cos if they wanted to see the market they should have concentrated on pushing india and pakistan into the super eights cos these countries are where cricket is not a game but a religion so if at all the marketing gurus planned the event they all miscalculated.
The came pakistans second loss and the Murder of one of crickets greates matriach Mr woolmer and the west indian police does not have even a clue why and how it happend and who was responsible so that is a real big black spot on the west indies and its law agencies. And secondly they had to call in experts from other countries to solve their own mysteries and I knew that match fixing would raise its head in the world cup and they had an earlier reminder when their very own Mr Samuels was allegly involved with bookies and terming him as his father figure and the authorities should have taken cue from it and saved the blushes and probably mr woolmers life but they did not.
Then the second giant india was beaten by the lankans and India was on their way back home and that virtually ended all hopes of the world cup being a hit and the companies which had invested huge sums in 10 seconds slot were hit right where it hurts most.
The endoresements deals the
advertising and the tourism industry all died an early death now lets wait and see what the super eights have in store and i will send some few more lows of the ICC world cup 2007
