SAVE YOUR EYES
In our human body when there is any imbalance among the three factors i.e structural, functional and bio-chemical, we feel unwell. The same thing happens with our eyes. We are here to discuss about the
disease called CVS or COMPUTER VISION SYNDROME .Do not get scared by seeing the term ‘Computer’. As we all know in our life computer has become quintessence part of the life. Here to describe the fact that computer is not itself an evil. To know about it let us delve into this topic:-
Symptoms:
1) Irritability in eyes and itching sensation.
2) Redness in eyeball.
3) Persistent headache and pain in neck.
4) Eye strain.
5) Overlapping of lines and image displacement. while working in front of computer
6) Blurring of the vision after switching off the
monitor.
7) Especially who uses soft contact lenses can feel uncomfortness in eyes.
8) Often change in color perception.
9) Sense of diplopia of images.
Above these are the signs which can point finger towards CVS. But it is very difficult for any Optometrist to detect this disease because those symptoms do not persist for a long time. It is then the patient himself can understand the shortfall of his
eyesight.
Preventive
measures:
To
Prevent this disease we have to have detailed pow-wow about both the monitor and the eyes. At first we should take interest about the prevention taken against monitor:-
1) Mainly monitor should be made by a renowned company. Quality of monitor should be good.
2) Monitor should be placed 4”-8” below and 20”-28” far from eye level. Monitor should be tilted in an upward direction.
3) Brightness and contrast level of the monitor should soothe the eyesight. Letter size should be big. Background color of the
screen should give comfort to the eyes.
4) Lights of the room should be in that position so that those will not fall into the eyes directly and should not reflect from the screen of the monitor.
5) If the working room or office is detached from the natural site of the outside, to soothe the eyes screensaver should have an eyeful landscape.
These are the precautions one can take against using monitor. But
below are the lists of measures to be taken to prevent your eyes before getting damaged:-
1) Give rest to your eyes as much as possible.
2) Should follow few
EYE and neck exercises regularly.
3) Rinse your eyes properly.
In a nutshell it is to convey that God has gifted us with a beautiful thing i.e. our eyes. Do take care of it and do not neglect to visit ophthalmologist if any kind of discomfort prevails. Because eyes are that asset of life by which you can perceive every beauty of the world.
