Tsunami victim in job racket
40 years old Savita, a tsunami victim, came to Delhi from Trichur in
Kerala to start her living, after losing her family in the natural disaster in 2004. She being a post-graduate in micro-biology, got a job with one placement agency at Vasant Kunj in New Delhi. But, she has come under the scanner of Delhi police, based upon the complaint received for duping people on false promises of Government job. She was staying in a rented house at Mahilapur Extension. Her first victim was her landlady, whom she promised a job of Junior Assistant in Custom Department for Rs. 50,000. Another victim complained that she neither provided the promised job and nor returned the money, which she had taken from him. There are number of people have come with similar complaint. Police is now investigating the matter. They have seized the register where list of victims along with the money paid by them are mentioned. They have also found number of slips, which Savita had given to her victims, for appearing for interview in various Government Agencies. The police is also investigating the role of the placement agency, where she is currently working. They are also looking for other people who might be involved in this racket.
