No Asian Century, still it’ll be American century
With the rapid progress made by India and China,
besides Japan in the recent past there are many who forecast that the coming century will belong to Asia now and not American century any more. However, US secretary of State Condoleezza Rice does not think so. She is of the firm opinion that in spite of all the progress made by number of Asian countries, the coming century will still remain in the hands of America. As some people in America has already expressed their fear with the reported rise in wealth in some Asian countries like China and India and they seem to think that coming century will belong to Asia and not America. But Rice’s stated “I’m optimistic because in America it does not matter where you came from. It only has to matter where you want to go.” Perhaps she might mean that America is largely built buy immigrant population. She maintained that American’s fighting sprit is still intact and it can definitely rise to challenges that future is going to offer. She feels that Americans look at future not with a fear but with hope and it is their never-say-die sprit will not let them rest. They still have the zeal to fight for their dominance in the world in future too. Few in American administration have acknowledged China’s rise in the international scenario and recent American’s policy of tilting towards India is basically to check the dominance of China. In any case, Rice is unmindful with this policy shift and feels that America is already well ahead in this new race and quite optimistic about its future.
