If you thought that you had to lug your lap-top around to
access your mail, think again. A revolutionary concept of ‘push mail’ that
delivers (pushes)
mail directly to your
mobile could now be available through
mainstream GPRS connection. This means that you will get your mail on your
mobile the moment it is delivered. It will be notified by a chime or a
vibration depending on your phone settings. This facility will now be available
even on mid-segment phones.
All one will need is a handset that can access the net and
one can download
push mail from sites like Consilent: (www.consilent.com), Emoze : (www.emoze.com), Morange (www.morange.com), or Cortado: (www.cortado.com) free of cost. For that you
have to register, give your phone number and email ID at one of these sites and
download the
application for free. It can check your email and allows you to
compose, delete or view mails and even view attachments provided your phone or
PDA supports it.
But there is a price to pay as keeping the application
running in the background can eat up your battery power or quickly consume your
internet account unless you have subscribed to unlimited internet access.
Moreover there is the question of security though the
service providers of push mail assure the client that they will protect their
privacy. But you will have access to your emails while on the move in the palm
of your hands. The decision to have push mail in the palm of your hand will be
yours and that too without owning a Blackberry which was the first one to give
access to this service. Mobile Mail Loses Price Tag! By Nimish Dubey
