Newspaper Review by: Krsrivastava

I think a lot has already been written on much hyped Setusamudram project. my view is that Lord Ram, in person, may
or may not have existed but the faith in his name surely does. Lakhs of people start their day chanting the auspicious mantra of Jai Shree ram or Ram Ram. The name still act as a chord to connect two unaquainted individuals in rural and retired india. The sheer controversy of the Adam's bridge or Ram setu having constructed of natural materials like coral and calcium stones does not match with the idea of being it man made( or made by vanar sena) but how many monuments and village houses till today are constructed of cement, RCC, paint, distemper, etc. The famous pyramid of Ghiza at Egypt is a one stone wonder. Are we questioning the very existance of them? I am very sure none of the living generations must have seen it being constructed.
In The modern world also if the person expires will the fifth or sixth successive generation doubt his existence? If no, then the question whether Lord Ram existed or not is absolutely redundant.Lord Ram still rules as our ideal of " Maryada Purushottam" or an obedient son. till day every mother wishes of a son like Lord Ram.Can such a huge faith be gaged with pitty standards like chronology and historical evidence? We as Indians are rarely obssessed with parameters like historical evidence and scientific inferences. For us faith comes first. If we believe in idols drinking milk and Gods consuming "Bhog or Prasad" worth thousands of rupees daily we can surely believe in existance of Lord Ram. In our ancient culture , mythological heroes were not operating world from robot, living high up in the sky but they were like normal humans , living in the same world and eventually dying like rest of the people. Therefore there was no ontological gulf between gods and people. they were all same and living in the common world.
The denying of existence of Lord ram in history is not conceived in a country like India where faith rules any declaration and an epic rules any encyclopedia.
