MEDITATION DOES NOT NEED CONCENTRATION

MEDITATION is one of the methods for stress reduction and obtaining better health. But there are several schools, methods and systems for meditation. These suggest sitting in a comfortable posture, and observing some part or point of the body or the breathing. In another case, we have to continue to repeat a mantra, which makes our mind quieter. It is called mantra yoga. By repeating in this way, our mind becomes soft and gentle. Having a difference of opinion, it is said here that meditation is not constant repetition, not imitation, not CONCENTRATION and not controlling of thought. It requires an alert mind. It is the understanding of the totality of life and understanding of the structure of thinking. In meditation, we should be aware of all thoughts and just observe them without commenting about them, whether they are right or wrong. Thus by our knowing about thought and feeling, we get silence. Then thought has understood its own beginning and its nature that, all thought is always old and never free, and then this silence is meditation. It is a state of mind, when with full attention we look at the things as a total picture. While learning and observing about ourselves, and also all our actions, when we are aware of all these ourselves, then it is part of meditation. Thus meditation can take place anywhere, and in any position.
