FAITH AND PATIENCE FOR WELL-BEING
Every one of us wants to ensure our well-being. For this purpose, we should have two virtues viz. faith and patience. Times of India of Jun 03, 08 discusses various aspects of this subject. It is said that these two together, contain a complete code of conduct for life. With faith we accept all happenings equally, and we trust our guru and parents. With patience, we can await the will of God to work by itself. Thus we can live without making any complaints, accepting things peacefully as they are, since we know that we can’t change them. Patience is not adhoc management of our mental restlessness. There are many examples for this purpose in nature. Patience does not mean bravely facing unfavourable events, with hopes for future. It means accepting all situations equally well, and surrendering to the conditions as per the desire of God. It is faith which tells that, in life it is best to have patience, and to surrender to the desire of God. It is advisable to understand and value both. Both are intricately woven, and both are needed together. (and not any one as isolated case is needed, since then it will become counterproductive). We need not exert ourselves to find out which path is suitable, since the two paths end in a common goal. Patience does not kill honest need enterprise and supports self-realization enterprise. But greedy enterprise does not prosper.
