Every type of weather has its positive and negative points. Rainy season is very useful for its cooling effect and help in agricultural production. But it causes many diseases. Some of the water borne diseases are typhoid, cholera, dysentery and jaundice etc. The mosquito borne diseases are dengue, malaria and chickengunia etc. Generally, breeding of mosquitoes starts after monsoon rains, but it may start early also. With the arrival of rains, there is wide difference in temperatures of day and night and there are many cases of flu, cold and cough, viral fever, rashes etc. In many of such cases, besides medication, complete rest is needed for a few days. When there is a sudden change in the climate from hot to cool, infections take place. Further, our digestive system gets weakened and it may quickly lead to infection. We should drink properly boiled and filtered water, take light food and avoid spiced and fried food. We should not eat food kept exposed in the open, due to the possibilities of its getting contaminated. Also we should not walk bare footed in the soil, due to the germs therein. In nutshell, lot of care is required to be taken for our health during rainy season, for prevention purposes, but quick action should also be taken for getting Doctor’s advice for curative purposes.
