SOME STRESS-RELIEVING PRACTICES
For each one of us, stress is very much a part of our life. We must
find out, our own stress-relieving mechanism. Times of India of Jun 14, 08 discusses this topic, on its editorial page. In USA and Japan, recreation centres of some MNCs have been provided with punching bags, and employees use them to punch them, so that their anger and tension comes out. This is reported to be improving their work-efficiency and also inter-personal relationships. On a PC, the video picture of an unknown person is hit by the use of the mouse. It is said that, this is a good stress-relieving arrangement. Further, there is a strange practice in a temple near Coimbatore, Tamilnadu. Here the people who have suffered, or are
suffering due to fraud, betrayal of trust, manipulations of others etc. perform a ritual. There is a stone column, which is red stained. Every person brings a packet of red chilli, ground to a paste. This is then smeared all over this column, which is representing that one, whom we want to take
revenge on. Thousands of people come here to relieve their anger, and after this ritual, they feel that the burden of the feeling of taking revenge has been removed.
