VIEWS OF MEN ON PRO-WOMEN LAWS
Laws are enacted for their proper utilization, but it appears that some of the present pro-women laws are being misused, against the men folk. This has been discussed in Times of India of Jun 26, 08. Two laws made for the protection of women are Anti-dowry legislation and Domestic violence act. Several cases have been reported, in which the women had wrongly and intentionally involved their husbands and in-laws, even in the cases of minor rifts between them. These stringent laws are being opposed by groups of men during consultations, organized by the concerned Ministry of Government of India. It is said that fundamentally a person should be treated as innocent, unless proved guilty. As per representative of “Save Indian Family”, in 30% cases the wife forces her husband, to choose between wife and his own parents, otherwise she gives threats of section 409A of Dowry Prohibition Act. There should be adequate safeguards and deterrents, so that the laws can’t be misused. Even the women relatives of the husband, are arrested and Ministry does nothing about them. Similarly for Domestic violence act it has been observed in several cases that, the violence is done by the wife on the husband, and her in-laws. The abuse of such laws must be checked and when a complaint is found totally false, then that person must be sent to jail, as a deterrent measure. These laws which are heavily loaded in favour of the women and open to misuse must be reviewed in all aspects.
