CHOOSING A PATH FOR OUR LIBERATION
Times of India of Jun 28, 08 discusses on its editorial page, the topic of choosing the path for our liberation. There are said to be seven ways. The first one, Karma is the discipline for the ordinary person. In the second Vaishnava, devotion to God plays a greater role, and it is meant for those having higher competence. The third Shaiva, is a path of meditation and knowledge. These three successive stages are for the ordinary person. In the fourth Dakshina, all the above three are skillfully harmonized, fruits are organized and conserved. The fifth is Vama, or the reverse path. It is the process of inner identification of oneself with divinity. These last 2 paths are for those of higher competence, and are heroic to struggle and fight. In the sixth path, Siddhanta, things are determined, as to the real nature and division of one’s goal. The seventh path is Kaula. This is the highest and the most secret tradition of Tantra, and essence of all essences. The last two paths are for the highest type of persons, fit to tread the highest path of inner consciousness. The truth of Kaula path is revealed, (as per our readiness, if we are matured in mind and nature, due to the discipline in previous stages) automatically, without anybody teaching it. Further, it depends on the degree of purification of consciousness, due to japa from traditions. It also depends on the level of freedom from ignorance and ego due to various acts, for getting rid of lower tendencies. In addition, we should have devotion and faith in the deity.
