NEW DELHI: In a
case which is similar to that of the Joseph Fritzl's case, a 60-year-old
businessman was
arrested on Wednesday by the Mira Road
Police for allegedly raping his daughters over an extended span of time, according to Times Now.
His elder daughter (21), who suffered in silence for nine long years, finally mustered courage and blew the lid on the crime after her father turned on her 15-yr-old younger sister.
The mother of the girls has also been arrested for abetting the crime. The case bears a sinister resemblance to that of Josef Fritzl in Austria, who confined his daughter to a cellar in his house for 24 years and repeatedly raped her, even as he fathered seven children.
According to police the couple were under the influence of a 'tantrik', who told them in July 2000 that the family would prosper if the father were to have a sexual relationship with his daughter, who was then 12 years. The 'tantrik' too has been arrested after the daughters filed a complaint.
Senior inspector Mukund Mahajan said the matter is being investigated and the trio would be produced in court on Thursday.
The businessman, who hails from Gujarat, owns a manufacturing unit of radium plates and automobiles in Andheri.
