Indian software companies
are pitching in for a slice of the information technology business that would emanate from the holding of the 2006 Olympics in Beijing ,They expect to be selected for providing a range of software solutions for monitoring various events, organizing security and providing a variety of facilities to the nearly seven million visitors expected to attend the event.
We are trying to tell them that Indian and Chinese companies can work together to meet the requirements concerning IT in the Olympics says Kiran Karnik president of the National Association of software and service Companies 29-memberNasscom delegation led by S Ramadoria. Chief executive officer Tata Consultancy Services is touring China at present.
The Indian IT leaders made a presentation to the Beijing Olympic authorities on Thursday, and will be making another presentation to the Chinese ministry of information technology on Friday ..Representatives of Indian and Chinese IT companies held a brainstorming session to understand the opportunities available to each other doing business.
The Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 would provide a good opportunity for Indian and Chinese firms to work together ,Indian Ambassador to Chinese ,Nalin Surie said at a meeting. We urge Indian and Chinese companies to optimize the commercial opportunities in IT sector, Surie said.
The Beijing Olympic authorities indicated that they would be releasing a tender for IT services and suggested that Indian companies could avail of the opportunity .The Olympic authorities want IT-based solutions for scrutiny and security of visitors like smart cards and also some IT solutions for the management of traffic during the games .Indian companies have come to the scene nearly two years after the Chinese government making serious preparations for the games .But karnik thinks that there are still some opportunities for the Indian companies to tap karnik said there are still a lot of opportunities .Chinese companies involved in the Olympic work might profit if they collaborate with Indian firms instead of doing so with US or European companies.
