Designed for Russians, Terrorists just love it
86 year old Mikhail Klashnikov who designed AK-47 to defend his motherland, laments its transformation into a
world-wide weapon of choice for terrorists and gangsters. He is thinking of sending a statement to the delegates of the an 11 day UN conference on curbing small arms trade that convenes June 26 in New York.
Klashnikovs account for 80% of all assault
rifles in the world. They are simple, cheap and reliable as they keep firing even in sandy or wet conditions that jam other rifles. Manufactured in more than a dozen
countries and in use by armed forces of more than 50 countries, AK-47 even appears on flags of Mozambique and the Hezbollah fighters of Lebanon.
