Cops can't
chase crooks in Britain, published on page 14 of Hyderabad edition> Anbody wants to take up stealing/ robbery as a profession, go to England. Of late, the government has opened new avenues for the crooks. Sounds crazy, read on. But beware, you ought to be a middle distance runner, a rock climber or a good driver or a good swimmer, lest you get caught after the act. I would advice you to first take a professional course in any of the disciplines mentioned above to make yourself doubly sure. Well, the new guidelines to the cops is not to chase crooks who don't adhere to the safety and health norms. These are part of the good conduct procedures in place for the policemen. If the cops are not listening, they will be subject to punitive action and who knows they might even be fired from thir
jobs. So then, there would be more career openings in place, in the police
department what with a number of cops sacked for neglecting the safety of the anti- social elements. And who would like to lose a job, that too in the Police department. None, too many. The crooks are
advised not to
wear helmets while lifting motorcycles, advised to wear slippery shoes while committing a theft so that they keep falling occassionally while making an escape and advised to jump into lakes when they are pretty sure that they cannot swim. In these cases, the cops wouldn't dare chase you as your safety is a top priority for them to remain in their jobs. It's high time the Government puts an end to the ludicrous ideas of crooks safety to boost the cops morale.
